This Week in Our Churches

Stone is planning to hold a take-out dinner of roast ham, scalloped potatoes, bean salad, a roll and dessert on May 25. The price will be $20.00 per dinner. We plan on serving 80 people. Please contact Edie Ward at (519) 856-4765 or by e-mail edieward45@gmail.com by May 20 to place your order. Payment can be made by e-transfer to stoneuc.treasurer@gmail.com or cheque or cash on delivery.


Sunday, May 22 at 9:30 am there will be time to gather on Zoom. At 10 am, join us for our Sunday Worship led by Lisa Leffler.

At 11:30 am in person worship will be held at Stone.


Tuesday, May 24 at 7:30 pm on Zoom, join us for Bible Study. We will begin our study of Titus with chapter 1.


Wednesday, May 25 at 7:30 pm on Zoom there will be a Ministry and Personnel Meeting.


Thursday, May 26 you are invited to attend Coffee Connections for Men from 10 am to 12 noon, on Zoom. Bring your coffee (or tea) and goodies and join in the conversation and fellowship.


Saturday, May 28 at 10 am on Zoom there will be a Rockwood Council Meeting for the primary purpose of financial updates from Property and Finance and an update from the Trustees.


There will be another Ontario Online Auction in support of Canadian Foodgrains Bank, organized by Ontario Co-ordinator, Henry Reinders. The Auction is June 9-15, 2022, with closing on June 15, beginning at 7 pm. There is an excellent assortment of new and gently used articles including tools, wood working and collectibles.  Go to www.sydenhamauction.com to view the articles and register for bidding. Donations are still being accepted and pickup is available until May 27, 2022. Our local project donations include a Treasure Chest handcrafted by Bill Allen, ½ lamb cut and wrapped for your freezer from Cove Valley Farm, and a hedge trimmer from Tom Parker. If you are doing a spring cleaning of your basement or garage and find some treasures, or have some handcrafted articles please contact Henry Reinders at ontario@foodgrainsbank.ca, or 519-373-2769. Last year's auction raised over $10,000 for the Canadian Foodgrains Bank.


Saturday, May 28, from 1:00 to 2:30 pm you are invited to join in a time of praying scripture and sharing with a partner at Spiritual Saturday on ZoomIf you are attending for the first time, please contact Lisa at lleffler@live.ca to receive the prayer materials and an introduction to the practice.

Sunday, June 12 at 10 am, on Zoom and at Rockwood join us to celebrate Rockwood’s 155th Anniversary with our guest Stephen Jackson who will speak about Anishnabeg Outreach and their new partnership with Trinity United Guelph and how we can continue to partner with them.


Wednesday, June 15, at 7:30 pm join the Genesis Book Club on Zoom to discuss The Four Winds by Kristin Hannah. You are very welcome to join in the thoughtful and thought-provoking conversation.

From the Reopening Commission

Worship at Rockwood and Stone United Churches

Zoom – we continue to worship on Zoom each Sunday from 10 to 11 am. If you cannot join us on Zoom, you can watch the recording of the service on YouTube through a link found in Contemplation and Conversation or by emailing the office.

In-person – You are welcome to worship with us in-person worship at 11:30 am on May 1, 15, 29, June 12 and 26 at Rockwood and on April 24, May 8, 22, June 5 and 19 at Stone. Please self screen and remain home if you have symptoms. In the church, we will wear masks and remain seated for hymns. Social distancing is strongly encouraged.

After careful consideration, the Commission has decided that food can be shared when meetings and activities are held outdoors.
